She arrived fragile, but with so much love to give
We were called urgently — no details, no name, just one heart-breaking plea - “Please help this horse.” And when she arrived, our hearts sank. She’s nothing but skin and bone, too weak to stand for long. Her feet are riddled with painful infections and her teeth are so overgrown that she struggles to eat. And over 75% of her body is covered in raw, itchy, burning bumps.
We don’t know what’s causing it yet — we’re hoping it's just a terrible allergic reaction to something she was fed. But the truth is, we don’t know. Her recovery will be a long road with lots of blood tests, skin samples, vet visits — and lots of love. And still, Bettina greets us like an old friend. She is gentle, trusting and so beautiful inside and out, leaning into the touch of volunteers who already adore her.
