He was kept in a tiny dirty and dangerous place. Starving, scared and without space to move. The first days with us he just stood in a corner, shaking with fear.
However things slowly improved. He took a long time to gain the confidence and trust from humans, however now he is also coming close to some of our volunteers for food and a tickle. If you see him and look into his eyes you can't help being touched by his soul. He looks deep into your eyes and you see his amazing strength and hope inside.
We named him Pumba as he looks like Pumba from the Lion Ling, It was a perfect choice for him.
We had a very long legal battle with Pumba due to his complicated breed, he is classified as an invasive species and not a farm animal which involved us gaining an entire new license. Taking 6 months, lots of paperwork, lots of waiting patiently while we watched him suffer in solitude before we were allowed to castrate him. However we are happy to say he has been castrated and is now learning to thrive and love his new life.
It was worth the wait.
